Extra Income from a working mom's point of view ...

I have been a full time working mom since I can remember (apart from an unfortunate 2 year unemployment situation a few years back).

I relocated for a better salary and do get a relatively good salary for the field I am in (a survivable salary) which I should be able to get by but I just don't get through every month. Its school fees, clothing for kids, groceries etc etc... And when you think you are left with a little extra for the month something always happens.  Washing machine packs up, The head on your car blows. Kids need new school shoes. One of the kids get sick and needs to see a pediatrician. Without an extra income I do not make it through.

But I am grateful that I have an income at least and thankful to my Creator that I am healthy and able to work to contribute to supporting our family.

I have been on a never ending search for income opportunities since I can remember and joined several that failed and some that actually work for me.  The ones that has not provided me with anything worth the time and effort I have dumped along the line and stuck with the ones that work.

AVON

This works very well for me as I have a huge client base within my workplace. Although everyone of the staff doesn't buy, the ones that do make my life easier even if I make only 20% - 25% of the sales it is a big help at the end of the day.

Those considering to join Avon, please understand it is not a sit back and make money type of setup. After about 15 years of Avon I still need to put some work into it. Even though it is only about 2-3 hours a week, if I didn't put that time in I will not get sales.

I'm not saying its hard work, all it takes is making sure you have catalogues and show them to people - drop them off here and there. carry a notebook to remind you where you dropped off and go collect the next day to drop off at another place.

BID OR BUY (My Referral Link)

I just LOVE BidOrBuy.

Everytime you clear out your clutter, instead of dumping it outside on the pavement for people to collect, take photos, add a description of the item and your price. (Don't forget to add how much postage would be - or add in your description if item can be collected from you - Collection is not always advisable since you do not know the person that will be knocking at your door so for safety reasons this is disabled in my listings)

Anything and everything you can think of (as long as it is legal) is allowed on Bidorbuy.  So if you have an old pair of shoes that still look good, sell it.

The people who collect the trash and find the item is going to sell it if they can't use it. So why don't you rather rake in the money for the item that you paid for than to have someone else make cash from it.
Been collecting stamps or coins and lost interest in the collection - SELL IT!!!
Upgraded your fridge to a bigger one - SELL IT!
Lost weight and don't fit into your clothes anymore - Sell It!
the same for books you bought and read ... kitchen appliances ... anything
If you work full-time, let the kids help you sort through things and take photos and list them at night or weekends - it wont take long once you get the hang of it.

I often find bargains on bidorbuy - bid on it and resell it at a profit ...

BLOGGING & ADVERTISING AFFILIATE BANNERS:

Now this is a tricky one - How do I start earning money through blogging ... I have read countless articles on earning an income with blogging ... None of these go without putting real effort into it from what I understood, yet every single article pushes people to use Adsense ... I have loaded some content on my blog and tried registering for Adsense - They used to be top of the line and easy to join.  Now you have to have a certain ridiculous amount of daily traffic on your site or you get rejected. I got rejected. Once they reject you it stays on your page and you cant try sign up again.

I had given up on blogging to make an income and started just blogging for myself (and those interested in reading the ramblings) and just adding a few small banners to my page.

I hardly get any traffic to my blog yet I logged into my Affiliate.co.za page and saw I had made R9.20 for the month.

R9.20 ...But that's nothing to get excited about I though. It doesn't even cover a loaf of bread... then after a couple hours while I was doing my work it hit my like a ton of bricks ... What did I do for that R9.20 ??? Absolutely nothing besides putting the banners on my blog initially - this took me about 20 minutes to do ... and Blogging one or 2 articles a week and sometimes not even an article for the week !!!

I was going to post the article anyways and without the advert it would have made me nothing ... but instead it made me R9.20 in under a week of doing nothing different to what I was going to do anyway.

Now I was thinking really hard ... if 20 people clicked in on my article and read it and only 2 of them click on a banner advert then it means I am getting somewhere ... so how about I try aim for 200 people a day for now - I am not a greedy person and I don't expect to get rich without hard work but Blogging is not work??? or is it???

If you have a full time job then it is difficult - so how does one get time to do it? How does one start Blogging and How to add banners to your blog.

1.  Register a gmail email address ... If you already have a gmail account then skip this step.

2.  Go to www.blogger.com and start setting up your blog.  You have to be signed into google with your gmail log in details to continue.

    - Give it a name (mine is MY RAMBLINGS) but it can be anything you want it to be
    - Give it a unique link ... you will have to try several times to get something that is not taken sometimes ... example : they give you _______ .blogspot.com and you have to add the first part to make it a unique link ... mine is purps2005.blogspot.com (which luckily for me purps2005 was not yet taken.
This could be any letters or numbers.

3.  Put up some articles and posts - try have at least 10 before trying to register an affiliate account as you will be rejected if your blog has no content. Also don't let all the posts show the same date ... this just shows that you did them all at the same time ... go change the dates on the right when you go into the edit option of the post if needs be.

4.  Register an account at Affiliate.co.za and put your blog link down as your website ... this would be your ______.blogspot.com link. You will get a confirmation email from them within 48 hours to say if you are approved or rejected.
If rejected - add a few more posts  and try again 2 weeks later.

5.  Add the banners to your blog and keep blogging - don't let the adverts bother you (and DO NOT CLICK YOUR OWN ADS - it will get your affiliate account suspended permanently if you go into your blog and click the ads to try make money.  This is considered cheating the system. They know when you click your own ads.

6.  You will have to work on your "layout" on the blogger backend to make your ads fit in with your blog etc. and to change the look of your blog to how you like it.

7.  For those that feel a big challenged by technology - contact me for my next Part time income - Helping others set up their blogs and adverts.

HELPING SET UP BLOGS AND AFFILIATE BANNERS:

Not everyone feel confident enough to tackle setting up a blog all on their own and some need a bit of help.

This is how it works  : You tell me what you need me to do and I will let you know how much I will charge for this - for now this is only valid for South Africa as I am only able to get paid via eft for the time being.

You supply me with your gmail log in details (please note you will have to change your password on gmail again afterwards so if you are not keen on having a different password in future then change it to something you never use and after I finish working on your blog you can change it back again.

Maybe you have a blog already but just need help with the backend (changing the look, adding banners, changing colours and font of text. I can do this for you at a very small fee.

If you don't have a blog yet I can help you create one if you supply me with the name you would like your blog to be as well as what link you would like (or I use a random link that matches your name of the blog.

You need content/posts/articles on your blog and don't know where to start (this option is a bit of a mission as the articles have to match what your blog is about so will have to be discussed in detail before starting this).

Adding banners is a delicate part of setting up the blog as you don't want things that contradict what your blog is about ... for example: you don't want to blog for kids or have educational articles and then advertise explicit adult content.

Please also take note that explicit content is another reason for affiliate accounts to get blocked / suspended so try keep the blogging clean to some extent.

To get hold of me feel free to email me purps2005 (at)  gmail (dot) com

TYPING PART TIME:

So many people out there are looking for work and I do typing part time too ... if anyone needs a CV done they bring it in and I type it for them and send it to their smartphones for them to be able to forward it to the companies advertising jobs. I don't charge much since majority of the time it is an unemployed person needing the CV's but I do charge for my time.

Many a time someone has come up to me with school projects and I do the research for them or I type out the work they have already completed for a charge.

I have had some international companies approach me for translation work - most countries don't have people who understand Afrikaans yet the company wants to spread out toward South Africa and need some correspondence translated to Afrikaans as to reach not only the English speaking population ...

This translation work takes about a week or so to complete but when you get paid in $ this is well worth while since the payments normally exceeds what an average person makes a week in salary.
